To all club members:
The Dorking Tens, the most important event in the club’s calendar, is fast approaching and we need an army (or tsunami) of volunteers to make it a success.
It is an unwritten club rule that if you are going to enter one of the races, you are expected to provide a family member to help with the event or you can volunteer for one of the pre-race jobs yourself.
However, we are in need of additional volunteers, so please contact David P without delay! email@example.com
Let him know if you would like a job you have done before, or a job you have not done before, and he will do his best to assign you your request.
We are asking for volunteers for the following important roles
ROLES SUITABLE FOR VOLUNTEERS NOT RUNNING
Course marshals – 28
Course cyclists – 2 – the ability to cycle very slowly is an advantage as you will be sweeping the course behind the last runner (one for the 10 mile and one for the 10k race)
Announcers’ assistant – 1
Typist to enter on-the-day entrants – 1
Race car driver – 1 – in your own car
Race car assistant – 1
Entries on the day – 2
Baggage room – 2 (pre- and post-race; one for each or share the job for both)
Info desk – 1
Water stations on course – 11 to assist Brian James (you can contact Brian directly firstname.lastname@example.org )

Handing out runners’ numbers – 6
Start set-up – 2 to assist Kevin Irvine
Finish set-up – 3 to assist David Moore
Car parking – 2 to assist Howard Jones

T-shirt handout at finish – 5
Water station at finish – 5
Results runner – 1
Note: we won’t need chip-timer removers this year because of a change in the timing system.
