It was fantastic to see another squad of over twenty runners representing the mauve of Dorking on Saturday.
By my count we had five runners making their league debuts on Saturday afternoon – this is fantastic news for the club. I hope you all enjoyed the afternoon as much as I did and will keep training hard and will be back to represent us in the next race and many more thereafter.
We were lucky that the ominous black clouds that were hanging over the famous Epsom Downs didn't burst until we had all finished and decamped to the hostelry for refreshments.
I’ll admit that your team manager had pre-race doubts, with injury hitting three out of our top four finishers from the previous league race in October, but I hadn’t reckoned on a revitalised middle order romping home in such spectacular fashion.
The ‘A’ team finished third on the day, losing a small amount of ground to West 4 Harriers, but the performance was strong enough to remain second in the league and keep us in the shake up for promotion.
I hope and expect we will have our top order runners returning for the next race in Oxshott in January, which will put us into a strong position for the season finale in February.
The ‘B’ team triumphed once again to cement their place at the top of the league.
The results can be found i at https://surreyleague.org/slm/match/104/
The Surrey League website is good, but annoyingly it does not show the aggregate positions, so I have pasted them below:
