MABAC Surrey Slog, Holmbury Hill, Sunday 22nd July 2018. Start 10 a.m.

This is an open (not league) event. The entry fees are great value (nowadays) considering the outstanding start location, excellent course, facilities and organisation. I hope DMVAC members who are capable will take part.

It is a hard, unique, non-commercial local trail half-marathon along sandy tracks mostly among the fine pine forests of Holmbury Hill with a grand view towards the South Downs from the hilltop.

The course is almost all up and down the gradual North profile of the hill with little on the flat. The gradients might be described as moderate though prolonged and the paths, though rocky in places, are, with great care, completely race-suitable for all speeds of runner. However you do need to be sure of your health and fitness and to have developed the endurance for a serious and sustained challenge. If so you will have a most worthwhile experience.

The course may take about 10-20% longer than a conventional half.

Queries and offers of help to marshal to me.

Best wishes

Patrick Martin
