Dorking Tens News

With just two weeks to go until the Dorking Tens races on June 2nd, the committee are busy getting all the plans into place. Hopefully you will have been keeping abreast of developments via the Facebook page but, if not, here are the latest announcements:

The race arch and start PA system that Stonegate Foundation have generously donated to the club have been ordered. The race arch is in production - a 3D visualisation is attached and you will see the list of key sponsors of the Dorking Tens on the wraparound banners

Race t-shirts have been designed and ordered. All runners will receive a t-shirt as will all volunteers involved in marshalling, at the start and finish and at race HQ. This year's design is also attached.

This year we are holding junior races whilst the main races are under way. They will take place near the finish on the Big Field and will start at around 09.20. You can enter your children on the day and there will probably be 3 different race lengths according to age. The entry fee is £2 and each competitor will receive a medal. Please tell your friends and share the news at your children's school so that we can get a great turnout on the day.

We are very pleased that Georgie Hermitage MBE has agreed to start all the races including the junior races. She will also be awarding medals to the Dorking 10 and Cockerel 10K winners. Georgie is the reigning Paralympic World and European champion in the T37 100m and 400m as well as being the world record holder at 100m, 200 and 400m.

We will have some stalls on the Big Field including catering from Caroline Dabney, a pop-up running shop from FitStuff and post-race massages provided by Head2Toe. To try to control numbers and clogging at the massage tents we will be operating a booking system with a massage costing £10 for 15 minutes. We are hoping that Dorking Sports Centre will also have a presence.

We have a great range of spot prizes that will be awarded to runners at random. These include £50 vouchers from FitStuff, physiotherapy sessions from Head2Toe, bottles of Denbies wine and tours of the vineyard, Silent Pool gin and distillery tours. We would welcome any other similar prizes so if you or your company could provide something that would appeal to runners we would be very pleased to hear from you - simply reply to this email

We're looking forward to seeing you on the 2nd June whether you are running, volunteering or supporting
