The Event : The first handicap of the year in September produced record entries of 57 runners including 11 entrants from Reigate Priory Athletics Club who were invited to join our handicap races last year to add a little bit more ‘needle’ to the competition! It seems to have worked.
Dates : The first handicap took place on Thursday 27th September and I have attached the results to this email. The next handicap will be on Thursday 25th October and then Thursday 29th November. The special festive ‘Non-Handicap’ handicap event where we do a fancy dress run round the town and Christmas Supper after will be on Thursday 20th December at Pixham Lane. Handicap dates in January through till March will be announced later when major county and national race events have been fixed during January and February so that we can avoid those.
Suppers : There is a supper served in the clubhouse at Pixham after each handicap race. Entrants and helpers to the race can respond to an email from Elizabeth at the beginning of the handicap week, chose their menu and, for a minimal charge, join everyone for a delicious meal.
Results : Results are issued through the club email system. Each race can stand by itself as a race with a result showing how each entrant did beating their handicap. As well as individual race results, points are awarded separately to male and female entrants and these are carried over to the next handicap and added together to give a cumulative total per person. At the end of the season the best 5 results for each entrant are taken from the 6 handicap races and a male and female runner will be announced as the winners of the handicap season with prizes awarded!!
